SPA 102 Elementary Spanish II

This course concludes the introduction to the basic elements of the Spanish language arid deepens understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. Students will expand their communicative and intercultural competence by studying social issues relevant to their lives, and by taking an in-depth look at the diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. The course integrates language and culture, and promotes all three communication modes (interpersonal, interpretative, and presentational) using a task-based approach. Cultural diversity is introduced through a variety of texts (news, articles, songs, non-fiction narratives, and short films, etc.). For students who have completed SPA IOI or two years of high school Spanish.
