High School Students

SUNY Adirondack has established a College Academy Program in accordance with State Education Department guidelines to provide academically capable high school seniors and juniors an opportunity to take college-level courses.  The various programs designed for high school students are as follows: 

College in the High School (CHS): Students may register for classes that are being delivered at their home school, either in-person or through the Distance Learning Network (NERIC).  A College Academy application is necessary for registration each semester.  High school transcripts are also required only for those students registering for Math and/or English coursework. Requirements for participation are junior or senior status with a min 80 high school grade point average. Students may ask for a waiver of these requirements by contacting the Office of Extended Programs.

Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH): A six-year program that gives high school students the experiences, practical skills, qualifications and credentials they need to secure rewarding careers in technology-based industries. The Southern Adirondack PTECH is a partnership between a high school, WSWHE BOCES, SUNY Adirondack and many local industries. PTECH students are incoming ninth graders who will, in parallel, earn a Regent’s high school diploma from high school and an associate’s degree from SUNY Adirondack at no cost to the family. Early College Career Academy (ECCA): SUNY Adirondack has partnered with area school districts and WSWHE BOCES to develop a program that is a unique blend of college credited coursework and career/technical education.  Students spend a half-day on campus in both their junior and senior years studying in one of three programs: Electrical Technology/Advanced Manufacturing, IT: Computer Networking, Business and Entrepreneurship or New Media (Graphic Design).  ECCA provides students with the opportunity to earn college credits in addition to internationally recognized industry credentials.  Students can choose continue in one of SUNY Adirondack's degree programs, transfer their credits to another institution or gain employment.  For more information on how to enroll go to www.sunyacc.edu/early-college-career-academy

Campus Academy: High school or home-schooled seniors can participate on either a full-time or part-time basis. Students must have a high school average of 80% or higher and a recommendation from the high school guidance counselor, principal or school official. High school or home-schooled juniors will be considered on a part-time basis only and are subject to the same standards. A College Academy application form can be obtained on the college's website at www.sunyacc.edu/collegeacademy, at SUNY Adirondack Saratoga or from the Admissions Office in Queensbury. The College Academy application form must be completed each semester. All applicants must include an official copy of their high school transcript. Campus Academy students are not permitted to audit any course.

Early Scholars Honor Academy: Available to students in their senior year, this highly competitive program features a scholarship of $1.500 ($750/semester) and requires students to take a minimum of twelve credits per academic year along with an hours research project in collaboration with current SUNY Adirondack Phi Theta Kappa members and advisors. A minimum of a 90 HSGPA or a 3.7 Quarterly Report GPA, along with recommendations from district personnel is required. More information can be found by visiting www.sunyacc.edu/collegeacademy.

Note: Federal and state legislation prevents early admission students from receiving any state or Title IV federal student aid. SUNY Adirondack’s Title IV aid programs include the Federal Pell Grant (Pell), Federal Stafford Loan (FSL and UFSL), Federal Supplemental Grant (SEOG) and the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program. State-funded financial aid includes the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Aid for Part-Time Students (APTS).
