PSC 105 Public Policy
An introductory level political science course exploring the field of public policy. Incorporating political, social, and economic theories and insights into the field of public policy, the focus will be on the public policy process of how problems are identified, solutions formulated, and how those solutions are implemented. The role of official and unofficial actors in the public policy process will be explored. Differing models of the public process will be compared and contrasted, and the various tools of decision making examined. While the course takes a broad approach to public policy, the students will apply their knowledge of the policy process to a specific public policy issue within their specific field of study or interest.
