ART 220 Photographic Project Development

An intermediate course that builds upon the technical, aesthetic, and visual language of digital photography with emphasis on fine art photography. The course covers the history and theories of art photography from its beginnings in the mid-19th century through postmodernism. The works of photographers across cultures are examined and students are encouraged to experiment with different modes of photographic expression in pursuit of a personal theme. Class final is in the form of a public exhibit. This course offers the opportunity to develop a portfolio and may be repeated once for free elective credit.
