AVS 250 Topics in Adventure Program Design

A capstone course for students in the Adventure Sports: Leadership and Management program designed to give students an opportunity to pursue individual projects in Adventure Sports. The course covers topics in Adventure Sports through a variety of approaches that may include: multi-day trip planning, adventure based event development, professional certification, challenge course construction, managing risk and environmental impact, emergency and rescue management, mountain ecology, Adirondack history, backcountry navigation and technology, and expedition leadership. Specific content of the course can change each time it is offered. Student learning outcomes and competencies will vary according to content.
