TRIO SSS

SUNY Adirondack's TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program is fully funded by the United States Department of Education to serve 140 enrolled SUNY Adirondack college students, at no cost to the students or their families. TRIO SSS provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. TRIO SSS serves: SUNY Adirondack college students from low-income families; students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree; and/or students with disabilities. The goal of TRIO SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates at which participants complete postsecondary education.

TRIO SSS provides year-round services to student participants. During the academic year, students work closely with the TRIO SSS team regarding academic advising, course and major selection, career counseling, financial aid assistance, transfer assistance and college visits, tutoring and academic support, personal advisement, financial aid assistance, and financial literacy. Students are also able to utilize our library of laptops, graphing calculators, photography cameras and textbooks if they need certain items for their courses.

Students are also offered the opportunity to participate in our peer mentor program, as well as other social and cultural events and college trips that will help them to build new and lasting relationships with other TRIO SSS students and develop a greater understanding of the world around them. The shared goals among all activities provided through TRIO SSS are designed to expose students to new and different experiences, teaching them to become active participants in their own learning and to keep students engaged in their postsecondary education.
