ENG 278 Internship in Publishing
An applied learning experience in an environment related to the student's career interest in the fields of writing or publishing. Hands-on experiences will be supplemented by reading, writing, and critical thinking in online or classroom assignments. Students will identify a unique field placement based on their specific career goals. Students may register for 1 credit and spend 40 hours in the internship; 2 credits and spend 80 hours in the internship; or 3 credits and spend 120 hours in the internship. Internships will be designed and arranged in collaboration with the course instructor, and students must secure the internship through application to the internship sponsor. Opportunities are available in reporting, newswriting, feature writing, interviewing, copyediting, sports writing, book design, book promotion, and related research. Since most internship opportunities will require travel, students will be responsible for their own transportation.
