NUR 102 Principles of Nurse Caring II

An introduction to principles of perioperative nursing care of adults and children. The pathophysiology and nursing care of patients with musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, oncological, and fluid and electrolyte problems are presented. Through the use of the nursing process, students will apply principles of nurse caring and will demonstrate creativity and critical thinking in the clinical setting. Clinical practice will take place in a variety of acute care settings, including in-patient medical/surgical units, ambulatory care surgery and endoscopy lab. Prerequisites: NUR 100 with a grade of C+ or better and BIO 107 with a grade of C+ or better. Corequisite: BIO 108.
