HVAC/R Technician Bootcamp - CPRP 404
This course will begin with the basics of HVAC/R and move into an in-depth breakdown of each category within HVAC/R knowledge needed to build a solid technical foundation. Content will focus on various topics, including but not limited to: electrical skills, refrigeration, ductwork, wiring schematics, heat exchangers, controls and switches, diagrams and symbols, common piping configurations.
Upon completion of this program, students will:
- Understand the basic principles of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
- Be able to identify and describe the function of various HVAC components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and ductwork
- Understand the fundamentals of electricity, including basic wiring techniques
- Have the ability to troubleshoot common HVAC problems, identify potential issues, and perform basic diagnostic procedures
- Gain knowledge and skills in performing preventative maintenance
- Understand principles of refrigerant handling
- Demonstrate safe practices when working with HVAC equipment
*Students who successfully complete this bootcamp are eligible for advanced standing in credit coursework.
