Wastewater Treatment: Basic Operations for Wastewater Treatment Plants - CPRP 139
Participants in this 20-session course will experience a broad introduction and overview of wastewater treatment operations, excluding activated sludge (a separate course typically offered in the spring semester). Successful completion of a training course and course exam is required as part of the qualification process to take the New York State certification examinations.
Upon completion of this program, students will:
- Understand the chemical processes involved in removing solids and pollutants from wastewater, including screening, sedimentation, and chemical coagulation
- Understand how to accurately measure wastewater flow and collect samples for analysis
- Be able to safely handle chemicals and equipment
- Be able to prepare samples and perform various laboratory tests crucial for monitoring wastewater quality
