IT Help Desk Bootcamp - COMP 219
In this short-term course, students will learn entry-level skills to begin a career as an IT help desk technician. The course will strengthen participants’ understanding of fundamental computer system strategies, including management in hardware architecture, operating systems, program troubleshooting and more. Students will also learn network management processes that improve skills in WAN, virtualization techniques, TCP/IP and scanning. There will be a focus on adopting basic skills in network security, security threat analysis, cryptography and security auditing across hardware and software systems. Finally, the course will prepare participants for the CompTIA exams.
Upon completion of this program, students will:
- Apply customer service principles and effective communication skills
- Understand remote accessing and scenario analysis
- Know how to manage incident processes and understand issue prioritization techniques, and best practices of help desk operation
- Understand operating systems, computer hardware components and devices, computer network and web applications
- Support and troubleshoot laptops and mobile devices, and manage common issues
- Install, configure and troubleshoot print and display devices
- Install PC components
*Students who successfully complete this bootcamp are eligible for advanced standing in credit coursework.
